Project Description
I co-created The Ministry of Letters — a children's book dedicated to inspiring a love of language, storytelling, and the magic of words.
The Challenge
Published by Thames & Hudson and dedicated to my son Finn, the book set out to get kids excited about language at a time when screens were fast replacing storytime. Written and created by Al MacCuish, the story needed a visual world that could spark imagination, travel across cultures, and stand the test of time.
The Idea
A rich, character-led universe where every letter has a voice, a story, and a sense of purpose. From character development and branding to art direction and typography, every detail was designed to bring the alphabet to life — playful, engaging, and deeply human. The book has since been translated into over 30 languages.
With Hana Tanimura, Simon Holmes and Ed Cornish and the lovely people at Mother London.
