Project Description
We co-created The Ministry of Letters—a children’s book dedicated to inspiring a love of language, storytelling, and the magic of words.
The Challenge
Published by Thames & Hudson and dedicated to my son Finn, the book set out to get kids excited about language at a time when screens were fast replacing storytime. Written and created by Al MacCuish, the story needed a visual world that could spark imagination, travel across cultures, and stand the test of time.
The Idea
We built a rich, character-led universe where every letter has a voice, a story, and a sense of purpose. From initial character development and branding to art direction and typography, every detail was designed to bring the alphabet to life in a way that felt playful, engaging, and deeply human. The book has since been translated into over 30 languages and continues to inspire young readers around the world.
With Hana Tanimura, Simon Holmes and Ed Cornish and the lovely people at Mother London.
